This project is a multi-agency effort to improve the experiences of domestic violence survivors with mental health concerns.
Covering all aspects of the problem of violence in mental disorders, the book is divided into four parts: general aspects; risk factors, phenomenology and characteristics of violence in mental disorders; contexts of violence; and prevention and management of violence in mental health. It also discusses violence in the various settings of mental health system, an aspect that has not previously been fully addressed. The volume is intended for all those who are interested in mental health, including scholars, professionals, and students. His main research interests are clinical psychiatry, clinical psychopharmacology, social psychiatry, psychiatric epidemiology and consultation-liaison psychiatry. He has authored or co-authored more than scientific papers, most of which were published in national or international peer-reviewed journals.

Domestic Violence & Mental Health Collaboration Project
Most people understand the experience of feeling anxious, sad, or unmotivated. For some, these feelings are temporary and fade with time; for others, they persist and cause significant distress, leading to changes in behavior, thinking, and emotion. When these changes begin to interfere with daily life, a mental illness  may be diagnosed. Mental illness is common—the National Institute of Mental Health estimates that one in five people in the United States live with a mental illness, or approximately Diagnoses can change over time and with treatment and, for many, symptoms can be reduced or managed. This literature review provides a summary of research analyzing the link—or lack thereof—between violence and mental illness, examines some of the variables found throughout the literature that may affect that link, and discusses the effects of stigma resulting from associating the two phenomena. Recommendations for policy and practice also are provided.
Mental illness can sometimes be associated with aggressive or violent behavior. But people living with a mental illness and receiving effective treatment are no more violent or dangerous than the rest of the population. People living with a mental illness are more likely to harm themselves — or to be harmed — than they are to hurt other people. Violence is not a symptom of psychotic illness. The relationship between mental illness and violence is complex. Research suggests there is little relationship between mental illness and violence when substance use is not involved.

OBJECTIVE: To study the epidemiological evidence on the prevalence of exposure to violence and its relationship with mental health problems in low and middle-income countries. In the general population, the highest prevalence rates of post-traumatic stress disorder were associated with sexual and domestic violence, kidnapping, and cumulative trauma exposure.
